The China Experience - 1978 to Now

VENTURA COUNTY SUPPORTERS
Presents
The China Experience - 1978 to Now

A Talk by Professor Ray Zhang

Wednesday, February 29, 2012
Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road
6:45 P.M- 8:30 P.M.

Global Exchange Ventura County Supporters are pleased to present a talk by Moorpark College Economics Professor Ray Zhang at the Thousand Oaks Library.  Zhang plans to demystify the dramatic economic progress China has experienced in the past 30 years.  He will bring us a fascinating comparison of China and the United States from multiple dimensions. Finally, Zhang will present a power projection for China and the USA for the next decade.

Three decades after launching a series of economic reforms, the mysterious “Red China” has become a world economic powerhouse, trailing only the United States in national output. Since 1978 China has steadily transformed from a very poor and orthodox Communist state to a “state-monopolized market economy.”  China has become a major player in global affairs and the world is following its progress with increasing interest.

Professor Zhang was born and raised in China and finished his undergraduate education there. He obtained his postgraduate education in International Political Economy and Business Administration at the Claremont College and Chapman University. He has been at Moorpark College since 2005 and has recently traveled back to China several times.

There will be a question and answer period following Professor Zhang’s presentation.
