“5 Broken Cameras,” 2012 Academy Award Finalist Film for Best Documentary Feature will be shown on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 7pm-8:30pm, at the Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.
Global Exchange, Ventura County Supporters are pleased to present the documentary film “5 Broken Cameras” at our monthly presentation at the Thousand Oaks Library. The film is a first-hand account by Palestinian farmer Emad Burnat of the first five years in the life of his youngest son, born in 2005, and the events taking place in his village of Bil’in in the West Bank. Burnat documents the nonviolent resistance of the villagers of Bil’in and other neighboring villages as the Israeli Wall and new settlements isolate the village from the land that they have farmed for generations.
“5 Broken Cameras” was co-directed by Palestinan Emad Burnat and Israeli Guy Davidi. In addition to being nominated for an Academy Award, this documentary won awards from the Jerusalem Film Festival, the Pusan International Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival . The film is in Arabic and Hebrew, with English Sub-titles. The 90 minute film will start promptly at 7PM.
This program is free and open to the public. Please come early to get a seat.
We ask that no seats be held or reserved. If the room fills up, we will have to close the doors to comply with safety regulations of the library.
